Our Story

We are a community of believers, passionate about the things that God is passionate about. Because of this, we have a passion for people, our city and our world. Our rich history has shaped our core values. Our culture is...

Freedom

Jesus made freedom available for everyone on the cross. We are passionate about seeing people find freedom, and become devoted Christ-followers.

Family

Our Gateway family is a diverse community that welcomes everyone, cares for one another, and believes in empowering and equipping the next generation.

The Presence of God

We know that nothing except the power of God changes a life.  Every week we gather around the presence of God, and relentlessly pursue everything God has promised us.

Our Beliefs

Gateway Church is affiliated with the Assemblies of God, Springfield, MO. For more information on what Assembly of God churches believe click here.

THE BIBLE

We believe that the bible is infallible and inspired by God to declare His plan for humanity. It is the only true foundation for life. (2 Timothy 3:15-17)

THE TRINITY

We believe that there is only one true God who exists in three distinct, equal persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit commonly known as the trinity. (Deuteronomy 6:4)

JESUS CHRIST

We believe that Jesus Christ is the only Son of God. He lived a sinless life as a man on earth, was crucified and rose again to provide us the only way to heaven (Matthew 1:23 & John 3:16)

SALVATION

We believe that every person has inherited a sin nature that can only be changed by restoring fellowship with God through salvation (accepting Christ's offer of forgiveness for sin). We believe that we are saved by grace (God’s unmerited favor). Salvation cannot be earned through good works. It is God’s free gift to those who repent of their sins and put their faith in Jesus Christ (Luke 24:47).

THE HOLY SPIRIT

We believe the Holy Spirit resides in the heart of all who put their faith in Christ, and that baptism in the Holy Spirit is an experience following salvation that empowers believers to minister and witness more effectively, just as it did in New Testament times. The evidence of this experience is a life that exhibits both theFruit of the Spirit and Gifts of the Spirit, as referenced throughout scripture (Luke 24:49 Acts 2:4).

THE CHURCH

We believe that the Church has a mission to reach all who are lost in sin. We believe the Church is the Body of Christ and consists of the people who, throughout time, have accepted God's offer of salvation (regardless of religious denomination) through the sacrificial death of His son Jesus Christ (Ephesians 1:22-23)

ETERNITY

We believe that Jesus died to provide an abundant life here on earth, and eternal life in heaven after we die. He wants to give you the kind of life you’ve always dreamed about as you draw closer to Him and become more like Christ (Romans 12:1-2). We believe that Jesus Christ will return to the earth to judge the wicked, and to gather and reward His followers. (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17).
